Photo Cleaner is built with privacy at its core. All AI photo analysis runs entirely on your device using Apple's native Vision framework. Your photos are never uploaded, transmitted, or accessed by any server. No account required. No tracking. No ads.
Information We Collect
We Don't Collect Your Data
Photo Cleaner is designed to work completely on-device. Your photos and personal data never leave your device.
- All photo analysis (blur detection, duplicates, classification) runs on-device
- No photos are ever uploaded to any server
- No cloud sync or backup to external servers
- No account creation required
- No personal information collected
- No analytics or tracking SDKs
- No advertising networks
Photo Library Access
Photo Cleaner requires access to your photo library to function. Here's exactly how we use it:
- Read-only access: We read photos from your library to display them for swiping
- Deletion requests: When you confirm deletion, we use iOS APIs to move photos to "Recently Deleted"
- On-device analysis: AI features (blur detection, duplicate finding, classification) use Apple Vision framework locally
- No modifications: We never edit, compress, or alter your original photos
- No uploads: Photos are never sent to any server, cloud, or third party
Important: Photos you delete through Photo Cleaner are moved to iOS "Recently Deleted" album, where they remain recoverable for 30 days. This is an iOS system feature that provides a safety net.
Location Data
Photo Cleaner may display location names (e.g., "Barcelona, Spain") extracted from your photos' existing EXIF metadata. This information:
- Comes from metadata already embedded in your photos by your camera
- Is reverse-geocoded on-device using Apple's CoreLocation framework
- Is cached temporarily in memory only — not stored persistently
- Is never transmitted to any external service
Data Stored on Your Device
Photo Cleaner stores the following information locally on your device using UserDefaults:
- App preferences and settings
- Streak counter and achievement progress
- Session statistics (photos reviewed, storage freed)
- Challenge progress
- Notification preferences
- Subscription status
Important: This data is stored using iOS native storage (UserDefaults) and is protected by your device's security features, including encryption and passcode/biometric protection.
Limited External Communication
The only external communication occurs for:
- Subscription purchases: Processed securely through Apple App Store
- Subscription verification: Periodic checks with Apple's servers to verify premium status
We receive only subscription status from Apple — no payment details or personal information.
How We Use Your Information
Since we don't collect your information, there's nothing to use. Your data exists only on your device for the purpose of:
- Displaying photos for you to review and organize
- Running AI analysis to identify blurry, duplicate, and similar photos
- Tracking your streaks, achievements, and statistics
- Providing storage insights and cleanup recommendations
- Enabling premium features based on subscription status
Data Storage and Security
On-Device Only
All data and AI processing stays on your device. Nothing is transmitted externally.
Device Protected
Data protected by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
No Cloud
No cloud sync, no external storage, no server communication for photo data.
You Control
Delete the app to permanently remove all app data from your device.
AI and Photo Analysis
100% On-Device AI
All AI features in Photo Cleaner use Apple's native frameworks (Vision, CoreImage) and run entirely on your device. This includes:
- Blur detection: Uses Laplacian filter via CoreImage
- Duplicate finding: Uses Vision's feature print comparison
- Image classification: Uses Vision's classify image request
- Screenshot OCR: Uses Vision's text recognition
No photos or analysis results are ever sent to any server. All processing happens using your device's neural engine and GPU.
Notifications
Photo Cleaner uses local notifications to remind you about your cleanup habit. These notifications are:
- Scheduled entirely on your device
- Not transmitted to any external server
- Fully customizable in the app settings
- Limited to a maximum of 3 per week
- Can be disabled at any time through iOS Settings
Third-Party Services
Apple App Store
We use Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. Apple handles all payment processing according to their Privacy Policy. We only receive subscription status information from Apple.
Photo Cleaner does not use any other third-party services, analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs.
Your Rights and Choices
- Full Control: All your data is on your device under your control
- Photo Access: You can revoke photo library access at any time in iOS Settings
- Data Deletion: Delete the app to remove all app data permanently
- Notifications: Enable or disable reminders in app settings or iOS Settings
- Subscription: Manage subscriptions through your Apple ID settings
Children's Privacy
Photo Cleaner is a general-purpose photo management tool suitable for all ages. Since we don't collect any personal information, there is no data collected from users of any age.
Data Backup
Photo Cleaner app data (settings, streaks, achievements) may be included in your device's iCloud or local backups if you have iOS backup enabled. This is controlled by your device settings and Apple's backup encryption. We do not have access to your backups.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Any changes will be communicated through app updates. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.
